2020-21 UEFA Champions League Group Stage: Marseille vs Manchester City

Having made a winning start to their Champions League campaign last week, Manchester City visit Marseille at the Stade Velodrome.

Victory could see Marseille move into the qualification spots in Group C whereas a win will see Man City stay top of the group.

Marseille have a full squad available for selection with no injury or suspension concerns, with Dimitri Payet set to start after sitting out Saturday’s Ligue 1 win at Lorient through suspension.

Man City could welcome Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Ake back from respective muscle and groin injuries.

Sergio Aguero is a doubt with a hamstring muscle related injury and could join Fernandinho (leg), Benjamin Mendy (unspecified) and Gabriel Jesus (quad) on sidelines.

Prediction

Marseille have made a strong start to the season with high tempo attacking performances but they’re going to need their defence to be consistently on it against Man City, who do possess a dangerous edge as they showed at West Ham on Saturday after falling behind.

City however haven’t really been at the races defensively this season so I do expect goals here but if the Citizens can find that clinical edge to put away some of the chances that they failed to do on Saturday, there will be one outcome.

Prediction: Marseille 1-2 Manchester City

Result: Marseille 0-3 Manchester City
