2020-21 Premier League: Week Six – Wolves vs Newcastle United

Wolves welcome Newcastle United to Molineux in this weekend’s second Super Sunday clash as both teams look to climb into the top five.

Victory for Wolves would at least temporarily send them fourth whilst Newcastle can climb as high as fifth with a win.

Wolves have no fresh injury concerns as Jonny remains their only absentee with a long-term knee injury suffered at end of last season.

Newcastle could welcome Isaac Hayden back from a hamstring strain which saw the ex Arsenal midfielder substituted early in their defeat to Manchester United last weekend.

Summer signing, Mark Gillespie could start in goal if Karl Darlow (knock) isn’t deemed fit enough whilst Sean Longstaff is expected to return after tonsillitis kept the youngster out last weekend.

Martin Dubravka (heel), Matt Ritchie (shoulder) and Dwight Gayle (knee) remain absent.

Prediction

Wolves should come into this match confident of achieving a solid result because they have begun to slowly find their scoring boots again with a pair of narrow single goal wins, whereas Newcastle are in strong form with three goals in two away league games this season.

Add in the fact that recent meetings have all proven difficult to separate these two teams then I genuinely can see a nervy game here because Newcastle look comfortable going forward, whereas Wolves are defensively the more solid of both teams as they continue to adjust to Nuno Espirito Santo’s new attacking tactics.

Fans might therefore want to be patient here given how different both teams are playing and if Newcastle don’t implode in dying minutes like they did last time out, I can see another score draw here.

Prediction: Wolves 1-1 Newcastle United

Result: Wolves 1-1 Newcastle United
