2019-20 Premier League: Week 24 – Everton vs Newcastle United

Everton meet Newcastle United at Goodison Park in a mid-table Premier League clash as both teams vie for a top ten finish.

Both teams enter this match sititng just outside the top ten and locked on 29 points apiece, meaning that a win could send either team as high as eighth.

Alex Iwobi is set to return for Everton after spending the last month sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Richarlison is also expected to feature after skipping Saturday’s 1-1 draw at West Ham due to a knee issue.

Gylfi Sigurdsson (groin), Jean-Phillipe Gbamin (fitness), Andre Gomes (ankle) and Michael Keane (neck) are all ruled out.

Newcastle could have Andy Carroll available after missing Saturday’s late win over Chelsea with a knock.

Jetro Willems is however ruled out after suffering a knee injury early on in Saturday’s win.

Dwight Gayle, Javier Manquillo, Paul Dummett (all hamstring), Jack Colback, DeAndre Yedlin (both knee), Yoshinori Muto (hip) and Ki Sung-Yeung (knock) are also sidelined.

Stat Attack

Prediction

Both teams really had to dig deep for their points on Saturday so this should be a cracking game, because Everton will probably be doing the attacking whilst Newcastle park their bus for the majority of this match.

I therefore can see this likely being settled by a single goal but Newcastle are good enough to get a draw if they are clinical enough, despite their poor away form at Goodison Park.

Prediction: Everton 1-1 Newcastle United

Result: Everton 2-2 Newcastle United
