2019-20 Premier League: Week 23 – Burnley vs Leicester

Burnley welcome Leicester City to Turf Moor in this weekend’s opening Super Sunday match.

A win will lift Burnley above Brighton into 14th whilst Leicester will stay third, although victory will move the Foxes level with second-placed Manchester City on 48 points.

Robbie Brady is set to return for Burnley after missing last weekend with a calf injury.

Jay Rodriguez (illness) and Chris Wood (broken nose) are also available for selection, whilst Ashley Barnes (hernia) and Johann Berg Gudmundsson (thigh) are ruled out.

Leicester could have Wes Morgan available after he sat out their last two matches with a groin injury.

Wilfred Ndidi (knee), Matty James (fitness) and Daniel Amartey (ankle) are still ruled out.

Form

Burnley enter this game on a four league match losing streak in which they have scored just once, whilst winning just two of their last seven home league games (W2, L5).

Leicester come into this game with seven points from their last six games (W2, D1, L3), and have scored in their last ten away trips since losing at Manchester United in early October.

Prediction

Burnley are worrying me because they just seem to be in defensive freefall, despite still doing a good job in term of tactics and playing forward without that crucial clinical finishing touch.

Leicester meanwhile seem to be slacking a bit lately despite playing well, although they are still dangerous on the road which is a huge positive to take into this game against Sean Dyche’s struggling Clarets.

I therefore can see a comfortable Foxes win if they turn up and deliver but Burnley need to start turning their form around, even if it’s just with a goal here.

Prediction: Burnley 1-2 Leicester City

Result: Burnley 2-1 Leicester City
