2019-20 Premier League: Week 14 – Burnley vs Crystal Palace

Burnley look to continue their push for an European spot as they take on Crystal Palace at Turf Moor.

With Wolves and Sheffield United not meeting until Sunday, Burnley can go fifth with a win. Palace meanwhile could go as high as ninth if they can take victory and halt a three match losing streak.

Ashley Westwood is suspended for Burnley after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against Watford last weekend.

Danny Drinkwater (ankle) and Matej Vydra (hip) face late fitness tests alongside Johann Berg Gudmundsson (hamstring).

Palace could be without Gary Cahill who is doubtful with a knee injury, whilst Joel Ward is definitely ruled out with a similar issue,

Form

Burnley are unbeaten in their last two league games with a pair of 3-0 wins, in which Ashley Barnes scored in both games.

Palace are winless in their last three outings with two goals conceded in each of those games, although they have taken seven points from their last five away trips (W2, D1, L2).

Prediction

The main issue with both teams is that they’re inconsistent because when they are playing well, they’re difficult to beat yet they are easy opposition when struggling.

I therefore am not expecting much entertainment here, particularly given that Palace have won their last three meetings but it’s Burnley who have the better form coming into this game.

A draw therefore would be the best bet but a part of me reckons that Burnley might scrape a home win.

Prediction: Burnley 2-1 Crystal Palace

Result: Burnley 0-2 Crystal Palace
