2019-20 Premier League: Week 13 – Watford vs Burnley

After taking their first league win of the season last time out, Watford look to continue their survival fight as they face Burnley at Vicarage Road.

Watford can’t move out of the relegation zone this weekend but victory will temporarily move them level with Aston Villa.

Burnley meanwhile could go fifth with a win and other results elsewhere swinging their way.

Ismaila Sarr is set to be available for Watford after recovering from a sprained ankle.

Christian Kabasele is suspended for this match after he was red-carded against Norwich a fortnight ago.

Domingos Quina (groin), Sebastien Prodl (knee), Roberto Pereyra (hamstring) and Tom Cleverley (heel) won’t be risked this weekend.

Danny Welbeck and Daniel Bachmann are out indefinitely with hamstring injuries.

Burnley could have Danny Drinkwater available after two months out with an ankle injury.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Matej Vydra are doubtful with respective thigh and hip injuries but will face late fitness tests.

Form

Watford enter this match with their first league win under their belt and six points from their last five outings.

Burnley ended a three match losing streak with victory over West Ham two weeks ago, although they are winless on the road this season.

Prediction

Watford will be relieved to finally have that first win but they will need to be focused against a tricky Burnley team.

The start therefore will be key because if Watford can get on the front foot quickly and control the game, they should be able to test the Clarets’ away quality which is quite weak.

Both teams however tend to score here so I am expecting goals but am going for a narrow home win.

Prediction: Watford 2-1 Burnley

Result: Watford 0-3 Burnley
