2018-19 Premier League: Week 38 – Leicester vs Chelsea

Leicester City welcome Chelsea to the King Power Stadium in their final match of this Premier League season.

With Watford meeting West Ham, Leicester are assured of at least tenth but a point will be enough to secure ninth, whilst Chelsea need a win to finish as the top London club otherwise Tottenham could snatch that bragging right.

Leicester City has no fresh injury concerns as Daniel Amartey remains their only absentee as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury.

Chelsea could have Ruben Loftus-Cheek available after the Englishman was subbed with cramp during their dramatic victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in midweek.

N’Golo Kante is sidelined for next fortnight with a thigh injury but will be available for the Europa League Final on 29th May.

Antonio Rudiger (knee), Andreas Christiansen (knock), Ethan Ampadu (back), Marco van Ginkel (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) and Callum Hudson-Odoi (Achilles) are all ruled out and unlikely to feature until next season.

Form

Leicester enter this game with seven points from their last five matches and have lost just one of their five home games under Brendan Rodgers.

Chelsea have fared marginally better with eight points from their last five league games,  but have drawn four of their last five in all competitions.

On their travels, the Blues have avoided defeat in three of their eight away league trips with two wins and a draw but are yet to keep a single clean sheet in 2019 on the English roads in all domestic competitions.

Prediction

After an exhausting tie in midweek which went to penalties, it is difficult to visualise what sort of Chelsea team might turn up, because Leicester will definitely give them a tough game.

I am therefore expecting a tight game but given the difference in preparation time, I fancy Leicester to edge this.

Prediction: Leicester City 1-0 Chelsea

Jake predicts: Leicester City 2-1 Chelsea

Result: Leicester City 0-0 Chelsea
