2018-19 Premier League: Week 38 – Liverpool vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

After their best ever Premier League season, Liverpool enter the final day in with a shout of the title as they welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to Anfield.

Only a win will do for Liverpool who need Manchester City to not win at Brighton if the title is to head to Merseyside.

Wolves meanwhile are guaranteed seventh but will fancy their chances of wrecking Liverpool’s title dreams, as they aim to continue their impressive form against the ‘Big Six’.

Mohamed Salah is available for Liverpool after recovering from a concussion which kept him out of their midweek comeback win over Barcelona.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is also expected to feature after being rested in midweek with Andrew Robertson (calf), Jordan Henderson (knee) and Adam Lallana (muscular) also in contention.

Wolves have no fresh injury concerns with a full squad available once again.

Form

Liverpool enter this title decider with one loss in their last 21 matches across all competitions, although they are on an eight domestic match winning run.

At home, the Reds have lost just once all season in all competitions and have kept three clean sheets in their last five home league games.

Wolves meanwhile have taken 13 points from their last six league games and are winless in five of their last six away games despite beating Watford a fortnight ago at Vicarage Road.

Prediction

If Man City do slip up then Liverpool can’t ask for a better team to test their ability against than Wolves, who will provide a sterner title decider test than many other teams.

Anfield however will have a volcanic atmosphere after Tuesday’s spellbinding performance, which will get Liverpool over the line but whether it will be enough is something that won’t be known until full time.

Prediction: Liverpool 2-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers
