2018-19 Premier League: Week 36 – Burnley vs Manchester City

Title chasing Manchester City head to Turf Moor as they take on Burnley in the second of three Super Sunday matches.

Man City enter this match knowing that victory will return them to the league summit above Liverpool, whilst Burnley are now safe after Fulham beat Cardiff on Saturday so will be keen to finish as high as they can.

Burnley could welcome back Phil Bardsley after the defender missed their last three matches with a gashed leg.

Aaron Lennon (knee) and Peter Crouch (appendix) are back in training but won’t be risked here, although Sean Dyche is hoping that both could feature against Everton or Arsenal in next fortnight.

Steven Defour remains Burnley’s only long-term absentee with a calf injury.

Manchester City could be without Fernandinho after the midfielder limped out of the Manchester derby with a knee injury, although Ilkay Gundogan is available after overcoming a knock from that game.

Kevin De Bruyne (thigh) and Claudio Bravo (Achilles) are both sidelined but the former could return next weekend against Leicester.

Form

Burnley enter this match unbeaten in their last four matches and have scored in each of their last 12 home games.

Manchester City arrive here on a 11 league match winning run and have conceded just once in their last five away games.

Prediction

Many will fancy Man City here to produce a dominant victory but I have a feeling that Burnley will pose a sterner test than expected, if can produce a similar performance as seen at Chelsea last Monday.

City however have several players who can unlock a tough defence so I am going for a tight away win.

Prediction: Burnley 1-2 Manchester City

Jake predicts: Burnley 1-3 Manchester City

Result: Burnley 0-1 Manchester City
