Manchester City vs Huddersfield Town

Manchester City sealed the Premier League title three weeks ago but still have records to smash as they welcome Huddersfield Town to the Etihad Stadium in the first Super Sunday match.

Victory will see Man City set a new points record by a title winning team and can need just one goal to smash the record for most goals in a single season by any team, let alone a title winning team.

Huddersfield meanwhile come here knowing that a win or draw will be key to their survival hopes.

Team news

Manchester City could have defensive trio of John Stones (groin), Vincent Kompany (muscle) and Kyle Walker (groin) back available here.

Striker, Sergio Aguero remains ruled out with a knee injury.

Huddersfield could welcome Tom Ince back from a thigh injury.

Defender, Michael Hefele is ruled out of this clash with a knee injury but could be fit for Wednesday’s trip to Chelsea.

Danny Williams and Elias Kachunga are both ruled out for rest of season with ankle injuries.

Form

Manchester City are unbeaten in four of their last seven across all competitions, and have kept just one clean sheet in that time.

In the league, Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling have combined to score seven of the Citizens’ 17 goals across last five league games.

Jesus in fact has scored in each of City’s last three games.

Huddersfield meanwhile are in dire form, taking just four points from their last five games.

Apart from the games where they got points and a 0-0 draw with Swansea in mid March, the Terriers haven’t scored in a defeat since mid January, losing 1-4 at home to West Ham.

Stat Attack

Where can game be won or lost?

Per Game Average Manchester City (home) Huddersfield Town (away)
Corners 7.29 3.65
Fouls 9.12 11.88
Shots 18.41 8.53
Shots on Target 8.35 3
Goals 3.41 0.65
Yellow Cards 1.53 1.82
Red Cards 1 1
Goals per First Half % 32.8 45.5
Goals per Second Half % 67.2 54.5

Manchester City should definitely dominate here because they are far superior in every area.

Although City waste more shots off target, their attack is simply amazing and should easily beat Huddersfield if the Terriers play like their away goal average suggests.

To be frank, Huddersfield’s best hope is to score in first half as that is where they score more goals than Man City.

Fail then this could be an one sided affair.

Prediction

Given Huddersfield’s pitful away goal average, I just can see one result here.

Prediction: Manchester City 4-0 Huddersfield Town

Jake predicts: Manchester City 3-0 Huddersfield Town

Result: Manchester City 0-0 Huddersfield Town
